A career fair/leadership serminar was organized by the TeOG- RG Kumasi for senior high students. The schools that were invited for the seminar included Opoku ware School, Yaa asantewaa senior high, KNUST SHS, Prempeh College, T.I Ahmadiyyah SHS, Islamic SHS, Kumasi Academy, Kumasi senior high technical school and Kumasi Anglican SHS. Florian and Johana, the team from RG – Erlangen who are working on an incinerator project in St. Mary’s Hospital in Djorobo was also present. The event also witnessed the Launch of the 2015 Recycle Up summer camp.
The theme for the serminar was CREATING A PLASTIC FREE ENVIRONMENT, THE YOUTHS RESPONSIBILITY. The seminar kicked off with a welcome address by By Jude Agyei Asamoah, Vice president of TeOG RG KNUST. A brief lecture on TeOG was given by Alhassan Baba Muniru, The President of RG Ghana and Team leader for recycle Up!.
The first speaker for the day, Mr. Rashid Etuaful gave a presentation on leadership. Mr. Etuaful who is a former graduates student challenged the students to aim high and choose good role models.
Dr. Mrs. Bennetta Koomson, a lecturer at the materials engineering department challenged the students to play a significant role in the nation’s quest to reduce plastic waste and encourage recycling.
Mr. Fugah Caleb, an immediate past Students’ Representative Council president, spoke to the students about career objectives and how to choose the right programme in the university. He challenged the students to exploit all education opportunities both home and abroad.
The seminar was climaxed by a poetry on plastic recycling from Shafick Obinkyere, A recycle Up! Ambassador and the Launch of Recycle Up! Ghana 2015. Check out the pictures of the event below.
