COMMUNITY GREEN ECONOMY PROJECT

The Community Green Economy Project Cohort1 commenced with the training of 30 women from Agona district in Fish farming, Mushroom farming with sawdust, Soap making, its added value from cocoa pods and Organic fertiliser production with the goal of creating sustainable green/circular jobs through entrepreneurship.  

NATIONWIDE WASTE EDUCATION CAMPAIGN (NWEC)

TREE PLANTING

On the 10th of June, 2022 Ghana celebrated tree planting and environmental green day. We joined by planting 1200 trees and fruits in our partner schools in Kumasi, Cape Coast and the community.

SCHOOL PATRONS WORKSHOP

We organised a Patron’s workshop on the 31st of August for all the Patrons in our partner schools to enlighten them more about our project work, goals and objectives, and outcomes. We recycled a total of 2,102kg of plastics and water sachet from our Partner schools in Kumasi, Accra and Cape Coast.

SNV GrEEN INCUBATION

The third quarter saw the SNV Green Incubation Cohort 3 program has a series of training sessions on Legal and statutory compliance, Good Manufacturing Practices, Market Research and Sizing, Stakeholder Management, Lean Model Canva and Value proposition. 

A mini-launch was officially held for the selected Cohort 4 SMEs to mark the beginning of the incubation program.

 

CIRCULAR INCUBATION

The third quarter of the Recycle Up Ghana Incubation Program was mainly based on the preparation for the demo day. We conducted the investor readiness session in which a series of workshops were held on investor pitches, elevator pitches and also how to make presentable pitch decks for investors. 

DEMO DAY EVENT 

The demo day was held on the 23rd of July, 2022 with dignitaries from local government, ministries and across the diaspora joining virtually and gracing the event. There were seven incubatees who pitched for seed funding of 5000, 3000 and 2000 cedis respectively. Waste Advantage Afric came in first place with Upcycle comfort and Biogas Innov. Having the second and third positions.

 

BMZ VISITATION

In the news, On the 8th of September 2022, we had the pleasure to welcome Delegates from The German Delegation comprised of representatives from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), German Protestant Development Organization (Bread for The world), German Catholic Development Organization (Misereor),  Protestant Association for Cooperation in Development (EZE) and the Catholic Association for Cooperation in Development (KZE) that visited the Recycle Up Ghana’s Hub. We had insightful, down-to-earth discussions with the delegates that broadened their views on what we do as an organisation.

COMMUNITY WASTE RECYCLING PROJECT

 

On the 14th of September, Recycle Up Ghana launched a Community Waste Recycling Project in Partnership with The Coca Cola Foundation. The project formally engages women, youths, and Aggregators to work unitedly in recycling plastic waste from our communities and positively change the negative effect of plastic waste being dumped in drainages by turning them into valuable treasures and giving plastics a second life.It was a great moment to see our vision for the planet and Ghana being fulfilled.

  • Yeah! The innovation centre will commence the production of 3D Filament soon

Community Recycling Project

  • Clean Up bash exercise in November at Ejisu Municipal with community members coming together to clean and collect plastic wastes from the environment. It will be an exciting time for everyone present.
  • Workshop session for Women Waste Pickers with the goal of professionally training them on waste collection and recycling.
